Cabin Fever

Last week Wednesday, we had a pleasure of it snowing in the south.  We received at least 7 inches of snow.  It was a beautiful thing to see.  As a result, my family and I, along with everybody else, were stuck indoors for at least about 4 days because of the icy patches on the roads.

For me, it was not a problem.  But for some people, it drove them crazy!! There were several people who posted on facebook about how they wish the snow and ice would just disappear and they are so tired of being stuck indoors.  Many of them even posted about having a case of cabin fever.

According to dictionary.com, cabin fever is defined as irritability, listlessness, and similar symptoms resulting from long confinement or isolation indoors during the winter. Cabin fever can be a state of mind.  Just like any other circumstance or situation, your state of mind is what can lift you up or pull you down to the point of insanity.

There are some things we cannot control.  It doesn't matter how mad or upset you may get.  Sometimes it is what it is.  For example, the fact that the roads were too dangerous for me to travel on would not have change if I were crying about not being able to drive to wherever I needed to go.

The best thing to do is to be patient and let things work out in God's own perfect timing.

Snow = Serendipity

Down here in the south, winter weather such as a snow does not happen very often or sometimes every few years, if for that matter.  Snow blanketing the land is a thing of beauty.  I always enjoy watching Christmas Hallmark Movies because they always seem to take place in a beautiful quaint town that is covered in snow.

Having said that, I was very excited when it snowed a few days ago.  It was a blessing to see and behold the beauty of the snow as it fell to the ground.  You see, just as the snow came unexpectedly, God has a way of blessing you in the same manner.  Not every unexpected thing that happens to us has to be bad or nerve wrecking.  It can simply be SERENDIPITOUS.  Although it may be an unexpected happy accident for us, it is not for God.  It's just all part of His plan.

The irony is that snow has a way of warming your heart, bringing families together as well as the kid in all of us adults.  When it was snowing, my motto was, "Let it snow and Let it Go!"  Besides, it was not in my nature to give the snow a cold shoulder. (No pun intended)  ;)

2018 is Here

Well it is official.  Another brand new year - 2018!  There is no turning back now.  It's not like we have a choice.  But, we can choose our attitude.  Optimistic.  Enthusiastic.  Appreciative.  Jovial.

Or.....

Pessimistic.  Angry.  Gloomy.  Judgmental. The latter does not sound like any fun at all.

I don't expect 2018 to be all rainbows and unicorns.  However, I do pray and hope for the best.
