The Journey Has Started - My A-HA Moments (So Far)

In my previous post, I talked about beginning the journey of becoming God's best version of ME by reading "The ME I Want To Be," by John Ortberg.  I started reading it last night.  So far, I've read chapter 1, pages 11 - 17.  I want to make sure I take my time to read and comprehend every word.  Sometimes, when you rush through your reading, there's a possible chance that you may miss a key point.

There were a few quotes that caught my attention.  I like to call these quotes my A-Ha moments.

  • "You are not your handiwork; your life is not your project.  Your life is God's project.  God thought you up, and He knows what you were intended to be."
    • I thought you else knows their creation better besides the Creator. No one.  Only God knows the master plan for our lives.  He knows our purpose.

  • "Flourishing is not measured by outward signs such as income, possessions, or attractiveness.  It means becoming the person he had in mind in creating you.  Flourishing means moving toward God's best version of you."
    • When you flourish in God, you grow spiritually.  Your knowledge and experience in Him increase.  You develop a deeper, a more intimate relationship with God.

  • "God wants to redeem you, not exchange you."
    • After reading this statement, I immediately responded by saying, "Wow!"  Many times we think we are not good enough; we should be more like this person and that person and so on.  But God loves who we are and who He created.  We are His masterpiece.  Yes, we may need a little tweaking here and there, but it doesn't mean God wants us to be anything besides ourselves

There are more, but these are my top three reading moments.  John Ortberg made two scripture references:

"For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ
Jesus to do good works, which God prepared
in advance for us to do," (Ephesians 2:10, niv).
This scripture happens to be my base scripture for my blog. :)

"The righteous will flourish like a palm tree.....they will flourish
in the courts of our God," (Psalms 92:12-13, niv).

As I read this book, my goal is share with you my thoughts and favorite quotes in hopes that you will be blessed, inspired, and encouraged to become God's best version of you.

It's Tuesday!!!

Its Tuesday!!! As strange as it may sounds, I have to keep reminding myself that's its Tuesday. Its only because I had Monday off courtesy of Memorial Day. So all day I was just out of sync with work, my daily routine (especially since my children are out of school). It really felt like a long day.

However, I thank God for giving me the strength and energy to make it through the day. All and all I can say today was a good day. I must say that if I would have taken just a little bit of time to focus on my heavenly father before going on with my day, it probably would not have seemed as long. For that God, I repent. But it was because of God's grace and mercy toward me that I was able to receive what was needed to go on with the rest of my day.

I give God all praise and glory!!!!

Get Some Rest....If Needed

Well, it's Monday...again. But, it's all good. I woke up this morning with it raining outside. It's been raining pretty much all day. Sometimes, I kind of struggle with getting out of my bed on Monday mornings. But I didn't. I got right out of bed. Maybe it has something to do with being in bed since 10pm last night.

10 o'clock at night is very early for me to go to bed, especially when I'm so use to going to bed at 11 pm or 12 am. Trust me, going to bed around that time every night has the tendacy of catching up with you and not in a good way. So, I definitely don't make it habit of going to bed that late each night.

Going to bed that late sometimes, can make you feel really tired and sluggish. If or when I am feeling that way, when I get off of work, I definitely try to squeeze in a nap. Otherwise, I am no good for my family the rest of the evening, since I do have to help with homework, prepare and cook dinner, and on and on and on.

Many people don't realize that you cannot neglect your body when it come to getting some rest. I know with a busy schedule it's easier said than done. However, if don't take the time to give your body the rest it so desperately needs, your body will shut down and force you to make the time. And if it ever gets to that point, that means your immune system has very high and possibly chance of becoming weak, which will make your body vulnerable to the flu, infections, and etc.

So be wise with your body as I will be wise with mine and get enough rest or sleep. Remember, no matter how much we try, we are not superwoman.

Blessings to you all, always!!

Your Sister in Christ,
Toia
