Thursday Thirteen ~ The Meaning of 13 Male Names

Thirteen Male Names & What They Mean!!

Last week, I did the meaning of girls' names. Now, let's check out what's in a name as far as the male species are concern........

1. Michael - Who is like God..........Extended form of Micha, meaning "Who is like God?" Michael is the name of several characters in the Old Testament. It is most famously that of one of the archangels, the one closest to God, who has the responsability of carrying out God's judgements. Michael is regarded as the leader of the heavenly host and is the patron saint of soldiers.

2. Jonathan - God has given; gift of God.........In the Old Testament, Jonathan was the eldest son of King Saul and the best friend of the future king David. Jonathan was a courageous defender of Israel and was killed in battle against the Philistines.

3. Grayson - Gray-haired; pleasant

4. Raymond - Advice, Decision protector..........Raymond was the name of seven Counts of Toulouse, up until the 13th century. Raymond Poincaré was a French politician, who was President of France during the First World War. Raymond Chandler was an author.

5. Ethan - Strong, firm, impetuous......Ethan means strong and optimistic, solid and enduring, or permanent. The name Ethan appears eight times in the Hebrew Bible. Ethan the Ezrahite, is mentioned in the Hebrew Bible. It may be that Ethan was a cymbal-player in King David's court. He authored Psalm 89. Charles Spurgeon theorized that this was the same person as Jeduthun. Ethan was the 4th most popular boy's name in the US in 2006, and was ranked 19th in the UK.

6. Shaun - God is Gracious........Anglicized version of Seán.

7. Cole- Coal, dark one.......Perhaps came into first-name use as a nickname for Nicholas. Cole is also a common surname, derived from the Old English "cola," meaning "coal." Perhaps the most well-known Cole in history is "Old King Cole," the subject of an English nursery-rhyme.

8. Brandon - Broom Hill.........Originally a surname which was derived from a place name meaning "broom hill" in Old English. Brandon is the name of the second-largest city in the Canadian province of Manitoba, and is the name of several towns throughout the U.S. and U.K.

9. Larry (My husband's name) - Crowned with Laurel

10. Philip - Lover of Horses.......Anglicised version of the Greek name Philippos. St Philip was one of the twelve disciples. Philip has long been used as a name in the ruling classes, from the Kings of Macedon (Philip II was the father of Alexander the Great) to Prince Philip, the husband of Elizabeth II, queen of England. Notable Philips include Philip VI of France, the first king of France from the house of Valois, who entered into the Hundred Years War with England, and Philip II of Spain.

11. Brad (Bradley) - Broad wood......English and Scottish surname from the Old English words 'brad' (broad) and 'leah' (wood, clearing).

12. Joshua - God rescues..........In the Old Testament, Joshua was appointed by God to lead the Israelites after Moses' death. The Greek form of Joshua is Jesus.Joshua was the 3rd most popular boy's name in the US in 2006, and 4th most popular in the UK.

13. Timothy - To honor God; To fear God........St Timothy was a companion of Paul, and the recipient of the two letters to Timothy, contained within the New Testament.

If you know the meaning of your name and would like to share, please do.

Thirteen Bible Scriptures I Love to Read

It's hard to say which scriptures are my favorite, but I do have some that I love to read and hold near and dear to my heart. Though I have many scriptures I love to read, I thought I narrow them to thirteen. Have a bless Thursday!!

1. "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life." - John 3:16
2. "And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose." - Romans 8:28
3. "For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them." -Ephesians 2:10
4. "I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, and that my soul knows very well." - Psalms 139:14

5. "Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths. " - Proverbs 3:5-6

6. "Have faith in God. For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, 'Be removed and be cast into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them." -Mark 11:22-24

7. "Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:6-7

8. "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." - Philippians 4:13

9. "No weapon formed against you shall prosper, And every tongue [which] rises against you in judgment You shall condemn. This [is] the heritage of the servants of the LORD, And their righteousness [is] from Me," Says the LORD. " - Isaiah 54:17

10. "The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly." - John 10:10

11. "My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing." - James 1:2-4

12. "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." - Hebrews 11:1

13. "For He shall give His angels charge over you, to keep you in all your ways." - Psalms 91:11

I hope these scriptures are a blessing to your spirit.

13 Ways for a Man to Get out of the "Doghouse" on Valentine's Day!!

Believe it or not some men have the tendacy of getting in trouble with their wife or girlfriend right before Valentine's Day. As a result, their hopes and dreams are to use Valentine's Day as an instrument to redeem them from their transgression(s). So to those of you (men), who are in the "doghouse" sort of speak, you might want to give some these tips a try.

1) A dozen of red roses - nothing says, "I Love You" like a dozen of red roses. Now depending on how much of deep "do do" you're in, you might want to go with 2 dozens.

2) Jewelry - something with diamond(s). Diamonds are a girl's best friend.

3) Balloons - lots and lots of balloons (red, pink, & white)

4) Sing a song - Ok, let me explain. If you don't exactly have a voice that carries a tune, you can always lip sync. Try Barry White's (Can't Get Enough of Your Love Baby...)

5) Chocolate - Not just any ol' chocolate. Buy her favorite chocolate Reese's, Hershey Kisses, Snickers, etc.

6) Valentine's Day Card - Buy a beautiful card that says, "I Love You". Then on the inside a card, write a note or a few lines expressing how sorry you are. Be sincere.

7) Take her out to dinner to nice romantic restaurant. Make sure that menu actually consist of food that she loves to eat.

8) Cook a Candlelight Dinner - If you are one of those fortunate guys who know how to cook, it's time to get in the kitchen. Just remember try to keep it simple, but beautiful.

9) Be persistent but not agressive - Do whatever it takes to get yourself out of the doghouse. Bottom line she's worth it. Right?

10) Text Message - Depending on where you are in the doghouse, she probably doesn't want to talk to you. However, that doesn't mean you can't text your love and sincerity.

11) A Picnic - Their are some parts of world that doesn't get as cold as other places do in February. So, it's OK to have a picnic outside in the park. Now, men if you've happen to stay some place where it gets really cold, there's always an indoor picnic. :)

12) A Public Apology - this is where you called the radio station or maybe go to her job and openly announce how sorry you are and without a doubt you love her with all your heart.

13) Write a Love Letter - Understand when you write this letter, you cannot in any way shape or form hold back on your feelings. Let her understand that you understand how she feels, how much you love her, how sorry you are, and that you will never want to hurt her or dissappoint her again. Even if you have to quote love songs, do so. The bottomline is to let the words come straight from the heart.

If by chance none of these things work, the only thing left to do is..............pray.

Thirteen Reasons Why My 2 Year Old Students Do Not Want To Use The Potty At School

Thirteen Reasons Why My 2 Year Old Students Do Not
Want To Use The Potty At School

I teach 2 year old children at a Christian private school. Part of teaching them the basics, we have to make sure they potty. Otherwise, we have accidents. But everytime, it's time for them to potty one, if not all, always has an excuse or reason why they don't want to potty. Believe it or not these reasons come straight from their mouths to my or my assistant's ears. Enjoy!!

1. "It's not working."
2. "I did all my pee pees at home already."
3. "This...This just isn't working for me anymore."
4. "I don't have the energy."
5. "I don't want to."
6. "I can't. I just can't."
7. "I wait for mommy to take me."
8. "I don't like to potty."
9. "I need some privacy."
10. "My stomach hurts."
11. "I don't want to potty. I want to play with the toys."
12. "This potty is too big and I'm too little."
13. "I go to potty tomorrow."

It's never a dull moment in my class. That's why I love teaching 2 year olds.
