Jesus At The Window

Jesus at the window

There was a little boy visiting his grandparents on their farm. He was given a slingshot to play without in the woods. He practiced in the woods but he could never hit the target. Discouraged, he headed back to dinner. As he was walking back he saw Grandma's pet duck. Just on an impulse, he let the slingshot fly, hit the duck square in the head and killed it. He was shocked and grieved. In a panic, he hid the dead duck in the wood pile only to see his sister watching.

Sally had seen it all but she said nothing. After lunch that day Grandma said, "Sally, let's wash the dishes." But Sally said, "Grandma, Johnny told me he wanted to help in the kitchen." Then she whispered to him, "Remember the duck?" So Johnny did the dishes. Later that day, Grandpa asked if the children wanted to go fishing and Grandma said, "I'm sorry but I need Sally to help make supper." But Sally just smiled and said, "Well, that's all right because Johnny told me he wanted to help." She whispered again, "Remember the duck?"

So Sally went fishing and Johnny stayed to help. After several days of Johnny doing both his chores and Sally's he finally couldn't stand it any longer. He came to Grandma and confessed that he had killed the duck.

Grandma knelt down, gave him a hug and said, "Sweetheart, I know. You see, I was standing at the window and I saw the whole thing. But, because I love you, I forgave you. I was just wondering how long you would let Sally make a slave of you."

Thought for the day:
Whatever is in your past, whatever you have done that the enemy keeps throwing in your face (lying, debt, fear, hatred, anger, unforgiveness, bitterness, etc.); whatever it is, you need to know that Jesus Christ was standing at the window and He saw the whole thing.

He wants you to know that He loves you and that you are forgiven. He's just wondering how long you will let the enemy make a slave of you. The great thing about God is that He not only forgives you but He forgets. Go ahead and make the difference in someone's life today. Share this with a family member or friend.

Remember that Jesus is at the window.

"He will again have compassion on us, And will subdue our iniquities. You will cast all our sins Into the depths of the sea." (Micah 7:19)

"I, [even] I, [am] He who blots out your transgressions for My own sake; And I will not remember your sins." (Isaiah 43:25)

"There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, [fn] who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death." (Romans 8:1-2)

"Bless the LORD, O my soul, And forget not all His benefits: Who forgives all your iniquities..." (Psalm 103:2-3)

Toia,

Thanks for stopping by my blog.

Love the story - sure would save us some grief if we were as loving and forgiving to ourselves as Christ is to us.

I'll stop in again sometime!

WOW. The duck story is a powerful one. Thank you. I often forget I'm forgiven and no longer a slave.

One of the enemy's specialties is to accuse us of our past - good to know that Our Jesus sees and knows all.

Happy Wednesday!

Thank you for stopping by and commenting on my page.

I love this story you posted today, I have heard it used many times and it always amazes me how the enemy enslaves us when God's forgiveness is there, we just have to accept it, learn from it and move on.

This was a very nice story and a great reminder that Christ is always there to forgive us, but it is up to us to forgive ourselves and not allow others to keep us in a prison.

with blessings,

Minister Mamie
