This Too Shall Pass

This Too Shall Pass

If I can endure for this minute
Whatever is happening to me,
No matter how heavy my heart is
Or how dark the moment may be-
If I can remain calm and quiet
With all the world crashing about me,
Secure in the knowledge God loves me
When everyone else seems to doubt me-
If I can but keep on believing
What I know in my heart to be true,
That darkness will fade with the morning
And that this will pass away, too-
Then nothing in life can defeat me
For as long as this knowledge remains
I can suffer whatever is happening
For I know God will break all of the chains
That are binding me tight in the darkness
And trying to fill me with fear-
For there is no night without dawning
And I know that my morning is near.

My morning wasn't all the great today. It seemed like everything was not going right. You know, just little things here and there that can throw you off your game. So, coming into work this morning, my heart felt a little heavy. I was having one those moments where I felt I really don't want to be here. And all I wanted to was go back home and crawl back into bed. I almost felt like I couldn't even open my mouth and talk to God (almost a sense of disconnection).

To gather my composure (if you will), I got on the computer to set up my post for this afternoon and cam across this poem, which is exactly what the doctor had ordered. This poem reminded me that God is always there, whether it feels like it or not. And this feeling of despair and heavy laden, will pass.

So, no matter what may be going on in your life, even if it is but for a moment, this too shall pass. When you think about the government and the economy, think this too shall pass. When you think about a loved one who is lost, think this too shall pass. When you are feeling down and out, think this too shall pass. When you think about how you are living from paycheck to paycheck, think this too shall pass.

Because one thing I know for sure, according to God's Word (The Living Truth) is that "Weeping may endure for a night, But joy [comes] in the morning," (Psalm 30:5).
Or maybe you should "count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience," (James 1:2-3).

With this is mind, always remember......

Toia, I pray your day improves. I so understand.

When I opened up my bedroom drapes to a gloomy day, I was a little disheartened. But poems like this minister to me as well as dear friends like you.

I pray God will lift up your spirits today. Sending you cyber hugs.
