Manic Monday ~ Build

manic monday

It's the last Manic Monday of October. This week is based on Psalm 127:1, "Unless the Lord builds the house, They labor in vain who build it; Unless the Lord guards the city, The watchman stays awake in vain." This psalm is about laboring and prospering with the Lord by building your work, your accomplishments His firm foundation.

Psalm 127 reminds of the parable about the wise and the foolish builder in Matthew 7:24-29.

“Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine,
and does them, I will liken him to a wise man
who built his house on the rock: and the rain descended,
the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house;
and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock.

But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine,
 and does not do them, will be like a foolish man
who built his house on the sand: and the rain descended,
the floods came, and the winds blew and beat
 on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall.”

This parable illustrates why it is very important to have God first and being in the center of His will, so that everything you do won't be in vain. Can you just imagine having to work hard, giving everything you got to build a future only to have it washed away in a few seconds simply because your foundation wasn't firm or solid? Isn't it worth to get it right the first time?

On the other hand, if we don't get it right the first time, at least we should learn from it and get on the right track the second time around. The bottomline is if you don't want all your accomplishments to be in vain, then put God first and be obedient to God's word. In addition to that, take time to examine yourself, your life, your business, etc. just to make sure that what you are building is on a solid rock and not sand.
