Sunday Scripture Reading ~ Psalm 127:1

bible-reading 1

Happy Sunday!! I hope everyone had a great weekend. It's beginning to look and feel like fall over here in SC. I'm enjoying every bit of it. This week's theme scripture will be based on Psalm 127:1.

"Unless the Lord builds the house,
they labor in vain, who build it;
Unless the Lord, guards the city."

Psalm 127 is about laboring and prospering with the Lord. One thing I know for sure is that we cannot do or be anything without God being the foundation of it all. I like to study from different bibles because each of them always seem to have a great insight on a scripture or passage.

For example, here's a study note from The Dake Bible on Psalm 127:1:

"All works of men built independent of God are vain. This psalm teaches man to put dependence upon God for success in building lasting things, whether houses, families, business, national security, or anything else."

That statement is so true on every level. In addition to that, The Life Application Study Bible has a note for Psalm 127:1 that also hit the nail on the head.

"Life without God is senseless. All of life's work - building a home, establishing a career, and raising a family must have God as the foundation. A family without God can never experience the spiritual bond God brings to relationships. A city without God will crumble from evil and corruption on the inside.

Don't make the mistake of leaving God out of your life. If you do, all your accomplishments will be futile. Make God your highest priority and let Him do the building."

I couldn't have said that any better. So, please before you invest your time into any work, make sure that God is the foundation. Every work built on God is made to last and will stand against the test of time.
