Refreshing Waters

Image
Refreshing Waters Sometimes I feel I’m in a desert Trying to find my way The heat beating down with no relief With no shelter through the day Day and night I cry out to God That He will come to my aid And just when I feel like giving up In His refreshing waters I wade For God supplies streams of hope That flows to wash over me It seems, though, for a brief moment A short and temporal relief Then once again I’m in the desert Enduring the heat and the wind Not long, O Lord, I start to pant For refreshing waters within I have to stop and ask myself Why am I where I am? It seems I’m wondering aimlessly With no purpose, direction or plan I long O God to find a way out No longer to be in this place When O God shall I be released And dwell in your mercy and grace? I long for your refreshing waters To daily be part of my life To continually be immersed in the streams Of the blessings that flow from Christ. © By M.S.Lowndes "Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted ...

My Attorney : )

Image
My Attorney After living a "decent" life, my time on earth came to an end. The first thing I remember is sitting on a bench in the waiting room of what I thought to be a court house. The doors opened and I was instructed to come in and have a seat by the defense table. As I looked around I saw the "prosecutor." He was a villainous looking gent who snarled as he stared at me. He definitely was the most evil person I have ever seen. I sat down and looked to my left and there sat my lawyer, a kind and gentle looking man whose appearance seemed familiar to me. The corner door flew open and there appeared the judge in full flowing robes. He commanded an awesome presence as he moved across the room. I couldn't take my eyes off of him. As he took his seat behind the bench, he said, "Let us begin." The prosecutor rose and said, "My name is Satan and I am here to show you why this man belongs in hell." He proceeded to tell of lies that I told, things ...

This Too Shall Pass

This Too Shall Pass If I can endure for this minute Whatever is happening to me, No matter how heavy my heart is Or how dark the moment may be- If I can remain calm and quiet With all the world crashing about me, Secure in the knowledge God loves me When everyone else seems to doubt me- If I can but keep on believing What I know in my heart to be true, That darkness will fade with the morning And that this will pass away, too- Then nothing in life can defeat me For as long as this knowledge remains I can suffer whatever is happening For I know God will break all of the chains That are binding me tight in the darkness And trying to fill me with fear- For there is no night without dawning And I know that my morning is near. Helen Steiner Rice (Poem Sponsored by: GodisGroovy.com ) My morning wasn't all the great today. It seemed like everything was not going right. You know, just little things here and there that can throw you off your game. So, coming into work this morning, my heart...

The Other Forgotten 10 Commandments

THE OTHER FORGOTTEN 10 COMMANDMENTS * * * * * * 1.Thou shall not worry, for worry is the most unproductive of all human activities. 2. Thou shall not be fearful, for most of the things we fear never come to pass. 3. Thou shall not cross bridges before you come to them, for no one yet has succeeded in accomplishing this. 4. Thou shall face each problem as it comes. You can only handle one at a time anyway. 5. Thou shall not take problems to bed with you, for they make very poor bedfellows. 6. Thou shall not borrow other people's problems. They can better care for them than you can. 7. Thou shall not try to relive yesterday for good or ill, it is forever gone. Concentrate on what is happening in your life and be happy now! 8. Thou shall be a good listener, for only when you listen do you hear different ideas from your own. It is hard to learn something new when you are talking, and some people do know more than you do. 9. Thou shall not become "bogged down" by frustration, ...

Jesus At The Window

Jesus at the window There was a little boy visiting his grandparents on their farm. He was given a slingshot to play without in the woods. He practiced in the woods but he could never hit the target. Discouraged, he headed back to dinner. As he was walking back he saw Grandma's pet duck. Just on an impulse, he let the slingshot fly, hit the duck square in the head and killed it. He was shocked and grieved. In a panic, he hid the dead duck in the wood pile only to see his sister watching. Sally had seen it all but she said nothing. After lunch that day Grandma said, "Sally, let's wash the dishes." But Sally said, "Grandma, Johnny told me he wanted to help in the kitchen." Then she whispered to him, "Remember the duck?" So Johnny did the dishes. Later that day, Grandpa asked if the children wanted to go fishing and Grandma said, "I'm sorry but I need Sally to help make supper." But Sally just smiled and said, "Well, that's all ...

Your Reward

Your Reward The way may seem hard, The road may be rough - To endure to the end You have to be tough, But try to stand firm, Be positive too! Your faith can be strong, And you will win through. You won't be alone - No, never my friend, The burden is shared, Right down to the end. Our Father in Heaven, And Jesus, our Lord Are waiting to give you Your eternal reward. This poem is sponsored by: Free christian poems. "The LORD repay your work, and a full reward be given you by the LORD God of Israel, under whose wings you have come for refuge." (Ruth 2:12) "For He repays man [according to] his work, And makes man to find a reward according to [his] way." (Job 34:11) "Behold, the Lord GOD shall come with a strong [hand], And His arm shall rule for Him; Behold, His reward [is] with Him, And His work before Him." (Isaiah 40:10) "Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great [is] your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you....

Mind

MIND A negative thought came to my mind. He wore a charming smile And I was sorely tempted to invite him in awhile. And as I hesitated, He tapped softly on the door And whispered through the keyhole As he'd often done before. He said, "I'll help you hold your grudge, I'll help you sing the blues, It seems like all your folks and friends have turned their backs on you." He said, "You've been misunderstood, Mistreated and maligned. I'll help you cry your heart out If you'll let me come inside" But, I kept my windows fastened And my doors securely closed, For I knew I'd be the loser If I let him take control For negative thoughts can multiply And crowd the positives out And make the mind a cesspool Of anxiety and doubt. And so I told the negative thought I could not let him in. He went his way, but I am sure That he'll return again. But no more will I greet him With a welcome or a smile And never will I entertain him Even for awhile. I...

Victory is Mine!!! Is it yours???

VICTORY I refused to be discouraged To be sad, or to cry; I refuse to be downhearted, and here's the reason why... I have a God who's mighty, Who's sovereign and supreme; I have a God who loves me, and I am on His team. He is all wise and powerful, Jesus is His name; Though everything is changeable, My God remains the same. My God knows all that's happening; Beginning to the end, His presence is my comfort, He is my dearest friend. When sickness comes to weaken me, To bring my head down low, I call upon my mighty God; Into His arms I go. When circumstances threaten to rob me from my peace; He draws me close unto His breast, Where all my strivings cease. And when my heart melts within me, and weakness takes control; He gathers me into His arms, He soothes my heart and soul. The great "I AM" is with me, My life is in His hand, The "Son of God" is my hope, It's in His strength I stand. I refuse to be defeated, My eyes are on my God; He has promised ...

Are You There Lord????

Are You There Lord? Are You there, Lord? Do you see it? Can you hear the battle cries Of the young men bombing targets From their war planes in the skies? Our world is going mad, Dear Lord, It seems to be insane And everything they're doing, Lord, They're doing in Your Name. Dear Lord, our hearts are heavy And ashamed for what we do. How can we do such hateful things Then say that we love You? Instead of drawing closer to You, Lord in every way, It seems we've turned our backs on You In all we do and say. Are You there, Lord? Do you hear us? Are you listening when we pray? Do you know how much we need You now In every single way? Why must we go to war again? Why must we be such fools? How can the world turn right from wrong When we've broken all Your rules? Dear Lord, if You are out there, Forgive the things we do. Forgive us if we've done it wrong And the hurt that we've caused You. Please lift this burden from us And wipe away our tears - Or are our pleas just...

You Ask Why I Follow This Jesus?

Image
YOU ASK WHY I FOLLOW THIS JESUS? You ask why I follow this Jesus? Why I love Him the way I do? When the world's turned away from His teachings And the people who serve Him are few. It's not the rewards I'm after Or gifts that I hope to receive It's the Presence that calls for commitment It's the Spirit I trust and believe. The Lord doesn't shelter His faithful Or spare them all suffering and pain, Like everyone else I have burdens, And walk through my share of rain. Yet He gives me a plan and a purpose, And that joy only Christians have known, I never know what comes tomorrow, But I do know I'm never alone. It's the love always there when you need it; It's the words that redeem and inspire, It's the longing to ever be with Him That burns in my heart like a fire. So you ask why I love my Lord Jesus? Well, friend, that's so easy to see, But the one thing that fills me with wonder is Why Jesus loves someone like me. -- Author Unknown This poem c...

Beatitudes for the Home

Image
Beatitudes for the Home BLESSED are the husband and wife who continue to be affectionate and considerate, loving after the wedding bells have ceased ringing. BLESSED are the husband and wife who are as polite and courteous to one another as they are to their friends. BLESSED are they who have a sense of humor, for this attribute will be a handy shock absorber. BLESSED are they who love their mates more than any other person in the world and who joyfully fulfill their marriage vows of lifetime of fidelity and mutual helpfulness to one another. BLESSED are they who attain parenthood, for children are a heritage of the Lord. BLESSED are they who remember to thank God for their food before they partake of it, and who set apart some time each day for the reading of the Bible and for prayer. BLESSED are those mates who never speak loudly to one another and who make their home a place where "seldom is heard a discouraging word". BLESSED are the husband and wife who faithfully attend...
