Inspiration for the Soul

The Cake

A little boy is telling his Grandma how "everything" is going wrong...school, family problems, severe health problems, etc. Meanwhile, Grandma is baking a cake. She asks the child if he would like a snack, which of course he does.

"Here. Have some cooking oil."

"Yuck," says the boy.

"How about a couple of raw eggs?"

"Gross, Grandma."

"Would you like some flour then? Or maybe baking soda?"

"Grandma, those are all yucky!"

To which the Grandma replies: "Yes, all those things seem bad all by themselves. But when they are put together in the right way, they make a wonderfully delicious cake!

" God works the same way. Many times we wonder why he would let us go through such bad and difficult times, but, God knows that, when He puts these things all in His order, they always work for good! We just have to trust Him and, eventually they will all make something wonderful!"

Sometimes the meals we get are not exactly the cream of the crop. Matter of fact they are stomach-turning, down-right nasty. It's like being in a restaurant. Let's just say you're dining out in the finest of restaurants and decide to order a tender, moist, melt in your mouth, T-bone steak. Your stomach is pretty much growling as you anticipate your buttery-flavored steak; Only to get in return a can of sardines toss to you like you're a dog. But there's really nothing that you can do or say. Because bottomline no matter how much you rant and rave, you are still going to get that can of sardines.

However, you do have the option of waiting on the Lord and allow Him to work your "food problems" out so that you can get that "T-Bone steak" your stomach desires. Just trust in Him. The meal that we want to eat is not exactly the meal we are prepared for and need to eat right now. And realize that even though you may receive a meal that don't exactly fit you taste-buds, God is preaparing a "meal" for you that will fancy your taste buds far beyond your imagination.

"And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose." (Romans 8:28)

"For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." (Jeremiah 29:11)

Hi Toia, thanks for stopping by and wishing my grandson well. Yes I do have a project on my hands but it's doing something that I love but for some reason I'm moving a little slow. I loved your post, the Lord is good, and he is always there for us even if we may think he's not because He works in His own time frame. But He's working it out for the good of those who love Him. Even if it's not exactly what we wanted, It will always be the best way according to His will. Deb

Thanks so much for stopping by!! I love the cake analogy you had. I really needed that right now. I feel so down with the financial crisis right now. :( It's so scary to think what's in store for my family and everyone else in this country. I just got to know that everything will work in the end.
