Welcome to another episode of Selah Sunday! In this post, we are going to focus on Psalm 46. The theme for Psalm 46 is "God is always there to help, providing refuge, security, and peace. God's power is complete and His ultimate victory is certain. He will not fail to rescue those who love Him' (The Life Application Bible).
"God is our refuge and strength, A very present help
in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, Even though the
earth be removed, and though the mountains are carried into
the midst of the sea; Though its waters roar and are troubled,
Though the mountains shake with its swelling.
Selah." (Psalm 46:1-3)
Let's pause for a moment. Selah. The psalmist is saying that no matter what happens, even if the world comes to an end, there is no need to fear. Because in the midst of destruction, chaos, or turmoil, we should have confidence, faith that God is mighty to save His people. Although it is natural to fear destruction, the word of God says in Psalm 46:1, "God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble." God's word is true and it never fails. So, believe it when it says that God is our strength, especially when we are weak.
"The Lord of hosts is with us;
The God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah"
(Psalm 46:7)
"Be still, and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth!
The Lord of hosts is with us;
The God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah"
(Psalm 46:10-11)
Let's pause for a moment again. You can relax your mind, refresh your spirit, reactivate your faith knowing that "The Lord of hosts is with us; The God of Jacob is our refuge".
Take pleasure in knowing that God has the final say in all of our victories. Being still does not mean we have to be silent in our worship and giving God the glory. It means that throughout each day we should take time to pause, be still, worship, praise, and exalt our all-powerful, all-knowing God.
Let's pray: Heavenly Father, I thank you God for being my refuge and my strength as well as a very present help in trouble. Therefore, I will not fear. You are with me. Teach me and show me how to be still in You as I continue to praise, worship, and exalt your holy name. In Christ, I pray. Amen.
Sleep in Peace!! Wake in Joy!! Selah.
