YOU SAID YES.
NOW LET THE JOURNEY BEGIN.
You do not have to know everything today.
You do not have to take every step at once.
You simply need to take the next one.
Accepting Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior is the beginning of a lifelong relationship with Him. You are beginning a journey of learning His Word, growing in your faith, and becoming more like Christ.
And you do not have to walk it alone.
START HERE.
These first steps will help you establish and strengthen your new life in Christ.
CONNECT WITH A BIBLE-BASED CHURCH
Become part of a local Bible-based church where you can worship God, learn His Word, fellowship with other believers, and receive encouragement as you grow in your faith.
Hebrews 10:24–25 NKJV
BE BAPTIZED
Baptism is an outward expression of your faith in Jesus Christ and identifies you with His death, burial, and resurrection. If you have not been baptized since receiving Christ, talk with your local church about taking this important step.
Matthew 28:19–20 NKJV
BEGIN PRAYING
Prayer is simply talking with God. Bring Him your questions, needs, gratitude, fears, and hopes. As you spend time with Him in prayer, you will grow in your relationship with Him and learn to trust Him more.
Philippians 4:6–7 NKJV
PRAYER RESOURCES →“As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith...”
Colossians 2:6–7 NKJV
BEGIN READING GOD'S WORD
The Bible helps you know who God is, understand His truth, and learn how He wants you to live. Begin reading regularly and allow God's Word to become the foundation for your new life in Christ.
2 Timothy 3:16–17 NKJV
NEW TO THE BIBLE? START WITH JOHN.
The Gospel of John is a wonderful place to begin learning about who Jesus is, what He taught, and what He accomplished through His death and resurrection.
FOLLOWING JESUS IS PERSONAL,
BUT IT WAS NEVER MEANT TO BE ISOLATED.
God designed us to grow in community with other believers. As you continue your walk with Jesus, build relationships with people who will pray with you, encourage you, help you understand God’s Word, and support you as you grow in your faith.
A small group or Bible study at your local church can give you a place to ask questions, learn alongside other believers, and develop meaningful Christian relationships.
“And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together...but exhorting one another...”
Hebrews 10:24–25 NKJV
You may have begun your relationship with Jesus personally, but you were never meant to follow Him alone.
GROWING WITH JESUS IS A JOURNEY.
Spiritual maturity does not happen overnight. As you walk with Jesus, the Holy Spirit continues His work in you, shaping your heart, renewing your mind, and teaching you to become more like Christ.
STAY CLOSE TO JESUS
Continue building your relationship with Jesus through prayer, His Word, worship, and time in His presence. The more you know Him, the more you will learn to recognize His truth, trust His character, and depend on Him.
LET GOD TRANSFORM YOU
Following Jesus changes us from the inside out. As God reveals areas of your life that need to change, respond with repentance and allow the Holy Spirit to renew your mind, shape your character, and develop Christlike qualities in you.
LEARN TO WALK IN OBEDIENCE
As you learn what God says in His Word, begin putting His truth into practice. Obedience is part of growing in Christ. When you stumble, return to God, receive His forgiveness, and keep moving forward with Him.
“but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.”
2 Peter 3:18 NKJV
LET YOUR FAITH BECOME YOUR LIFE.
As you grow in Christ, your faith will begin to shape the way you live. It will influence how you love others, how you speak, how you make decisions, how you use your gifts, and how you respond to the people and opportunities God places in front of you.
Following Jesus is not only about what you believe. It is also about allowing your life to reflect Him.
Look for ways to serve others, share what Jesus has done in your life, use the gifts God has given you, and show His love through your words and actions. Your everyday life can become a witness to the difference Christ is making in you.
“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.”
Matthew 5:16 NKJV
Let your faith become visible in the way you live.
There will be more to learn, more ways to grow, and more steps to take. You do not have to take them all today. Stay close to Jesus, remain rooted in His Word, and allow Him to lead you one step at a time.
YOU ARE NOT EXPECTED TO BECOME MATURE OVERNIGHT.
Keep walking. Keep learning. Keep following Jesus.
YOUR JOURNEY WITH JESUS
HAS ONLY BEGUN.
